How to use & coverage

Choose a tab (Courts, Criminal & Inmate, Business…), pick a state — and a county if you know it — then press Search. Your location stays picked when you switch tabs. Results open on the official government site — this directory never stores records.

Free / Paid
Whether searching costs money. Paid sites often charge per search or by subscription.
Login needed
You must create an account on that site before searching.
Statewide court search
One state-run system. “Covers this county” means it includes this county’s cases, so you may not need a county site.
Working / May be blocked
“Working” means the page loaded in our automated check. “May be blocked” means our automated check was blocked; the link is official and usually works in a normal browser.
Criminal history & inmate lookups
County jail and state prison inmate lookups, state criminal-history repositories (often paid) and sex offender registries — separate from court case search. “County jail” marks the sheriff’s or county’s own lookup.
National Sex Offender Search
The U.S. Department of Justice NSOPW site searches all public registries at once.
Business
Secretary of State business entity searches and state UCC lien searches. “Person-name search” means you can look up companies by officer or individual name.
New in this round
Courts now lists statewide appellate opinions and probate indexes (no county needed). Property lists unclaimed property for every state plus federal sources. Licenses adds notaries and insurance producers. “Vital Records & Requests” covers certificates (fees apply), free death/marriage indexes and open-records/FOIA guides. Federal tools adds Vessels, Regulatory & compliance and Unclaimed money.
Statewide systems
Many states run one search that covers every county (courts, deeds or property). These show as “Statewide” and appear with each county’s results.
Town-assessed states
In parts of New England, New Jersey, New York, Michigan and Wisconsin, towns or cities — not counties — handle property assessing. Those county entries carry a note pointing you to the town.
May be blocked (degraded)
Our automated link check was blocked by the site’s bot protection. The link is official and normally works in a regular browser.
Paid / Login required
“Paid” means the site charges per search, per document or by subscription. “Login required” means you need an account first. “Last checked” is the date of our last automated check of that link.
Filter, print & export
On results, type in the filter box or tick Free only, Owner / person-name search or No login to narrow the list. “Print / save list” prints every result (or saves a PDF); “Download CSV” saves the current list for your notes. Recent searches are kept only in your browser.
Canada & UK
Separate sections with their own province/territory or nation menu. National sources are listed with every region.
Public Records & OSINT menus
The sidebar has two menus. Public Records holds the government search sections (US, Canada, UK). OSINT lists open-source intelligence tools and guides by topic, with no location needed. Click a menu name to open or close it.
Directory only
We link to official government search sites. We don’t store, sell or verify records, and nothing you search is sent to us.
Coming soon
Tabs still being built show a “soon” label.

Not legal advice
Always confirm details with the court clerk. Some records are confidential and not online.
